Prof. LECH CZARNECKI

Professor Lech Czarnecki (PhD, D.Sc.) is a well-known scientist and internationally renowned expert in building materials engineering. He is the Scientific Secretary of Building Research Institute in Warsaw, Poland. He was the President of International Congress on Polymers in Concrete, ICPIC (2006 – 2013), formerly he was the Vice President of ICPIC from 2001 to 2006. He has also been a member of Board of Directors since 1992. He is a senior member of RILEM since 1992. From 1972 to 2011 he was the Head of the Building Materials Engineering Department of Warsaw University of Technology and Vice–Rector for Academic Affairs (2000 –2006). In 2020 he was honored with the title of doctor honoris causa from the Kielce University of Technology.
His research interest include construction, concrete durability, sustainable concrete-polymer composites, concrete repair, concrete carbonation.
Lech Czarnecki was awarded:
- as an outstanding Review writer for Elsevier Journal, 2014;
- “for eminent activities in new frontiers of building materials engineering” by the Society of Materials Engineering for Resources in Japan in 2009;
- “for distinguished service and leadership in the field of polymers in concrete” by the Owen Nutt Award in 2004.
According to the Google Scholar his publications have been cited more than 3000 times and his h-index is 27. He is the author or co-author of more than 240 scientific and technical papers, as well as many research project reports and 38 patents.
MSc KATARZYNA TOMICZAK

Katarzyna H. Tomiczak is a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Management at the Warsaw University of Technology, a graduate of the Faculty of Management and Marketing at Kozminski University (BA) and the Faculty of Economics at Skarbek Graduate School of Business Economics (MA). She has been associated with the Building Research Institute since 2016. She is the chief specialist for scientific development in the scientific excellence team. She is also the secretary of the ITB Scientific Development Program Steering Committee and Habilitation Seminar.

The graduate (1979) of the faculty of the materials engineering and ceramics of the Stanisław Staszic University of Science and Technology in Cracow (technology of binding materials). Since the time of the University graduation he is associated with the college. He specializes in the subject matter associated with the technology of concrete, binding and building materials. The author and the co-author about 150 of academic publications. The co-author of 15 patents from which the considerable part was implemented for the industry. From 1992 he is connected with the Polish Cement Association where he is performing the post of prime manager of the office. He is representing Polish Cement Association in the European CEMBUREAU organization. He is the editor-in-chief of the quarterly “Construction Technologies Architecture” from 1998. He is a chairman of the organizing committee organising conferences of „Days of concrete” (8 editions).
From November 2012 he is a professor of the Technology of building materials. He participates in the teaching and the research activity in domestic and international projects for many years. In 2012 he was appointed through GDDKiA to the captain of the team of New General Technical Specifications for concrete. He is a member of a team of experts of the ministry of the infrastructure.
Prof. DIONYS VAN GEMERT

Dionys Van Gemert, dr. ir., is professor-emeritus of building materials science and renovation of constructions at the Department of Civil Engineering of KU Leuven, Belgium. He was head of the KU Leuven Building Materials and Construction Techniques Division, and head of the Reyntjens Laboratory for Materials Testing (1991-2008). His research concerns repairing and strengthening of constructions, deterioration and protection of building materials, concrete polymer composites. He was President of ICPIC 2001-2007.
He is chairman of Triconsult n.v., spin-off of KU Leuven.

Prof. MAHMOUD REDA TAHA

Prof. Mahmoud Reda Taha is a Distinguished Professor, Regents’ Lecturer, and Chairman of the Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering at the University of New Mexico, USA, where he has worked for the past 20 years. He was the founding director of the UNM Resilience Institute. He authored and co-authored more than 370 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings; he has twelve issued US-Patents and has advised more than 50 students toward their MS and Ph.D. degrees. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a Chairman of the ACI Committee on Nanotechnology, a Chairman of the ASCE Infrastructure Resilience Division, and a Section Editor of ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE/PEng) in the US and Canada and a consultant who designed numerous structures worldwide. He is also an entrepreneur leading a start-up company TS-Nano Inc. to seal abandoned oil and gas wells against methane emissions using nanomodified polymers. He received his BS (Honors) and MS in Structural Engineering from Ain Shams University, Egypt, and his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada.
Prof. RU WANG

Professor Ru Wang (PhD) has devoted to teaching and research in the field of Materials Science. Her research work has been focused on the basic theory and engineering application of polymer-cement based composite materials, especially the chemical reaction process of polymer-modified cement based materials, exploring the relationship between the chemical reaction and microstructural evolution and their influence on the physical and mechanical properties, putting forward the feasibility of using polymer reasonably to prepare new polymer-cement based functional building materials from the perspective of science, safety and environmental protection. She has been working at Tongji University since 2003, during which she had also been working at Vienna University of Technology as a postdoctor and at Columbia University in the City of New York as a visiting scholar. She was elected as the vice-president of the International Congress on Polymers in Concrete (ICPIC) in 2018, and in the same year she was awarded the Owen Nutt Award. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of ICPIC since 2010. She has published more than 140 academic papers and 4 books.
Prof. PIOTR WOYCIECHOWSKI

Professor Piotr Paweł Woyciechowski (PhD, D.Sc.) is a scientist and expert in building materials engineering. Since 2020 he is the Head of Institute of Building Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland. From 2016 to 2020 he was a Vice Head of the same Institute. He is also the Chairman of Buildings Durability Committee in Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians.
His research interest include construction materials, cement and polymer-cement concrete design, properties and durability, sustainability of concrete, concrete curing methods and regimes, concrete carbonation modelling and input in CO2 sequestration.
Piotr P. Woyciechowski was awarded, among others with Professor Roman Ciesielski`s Medal (2021) and Professor Wacałw Żenczykowski`s Award (2015) by Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians.
